School of Ijely Miarinarivo – Itasy – Madagascar
Don Bosco School

Thanks to our decades-long friendship with Fr. Gianni Ghiglione (SdB), who saw Gilda grow up at the Don Bosco Oratory at REBA and in the courtyards of the Rebaudengo Salesian Institute, we decided as an Association to channel Gilda's Strength in concrete aid to Madagascar as well. Gilda's gift, "the important thing is to do," dovetailed with the Director's recent letter of thanks to benefactors of a Salesian School in Madagascar.
Letter from the director, Fr. Jean Claude
"Hello Don Gianni and dear benefactors! Thank you so much for your help in our school canteen here in Ijely. The children and also we Salesian educators are all very happy with these offerings: this help came at a time when we were in trouble, that is, in extreme need, now we are really relieved.
Some information about this school and its students now! This school was built in the region not far from Antananarivo, in the region called Itasy. It serves the children of the bush around us with parents who live in very difficult living conditions due to the extreme poverty there. Thanks to your support this year, we hope to keep these students in school until the end of this school year because the cafeteria plays an important role in reducing the dropout rate. Thank you! and on behalf of all the students of Don Bosco Ijely School, and the entire Salesian community here! A thousand thanks!"
Here it is that as a family first and now as an Association, this letter has been an invitation for us to continue to live the present with industrious charity, to make every moment a "yes," a response of love.
And in the Association's plans, we thought of bringing some help and hope to the brothers and sisters of the Salesian community in Ijely as well.
